Hugh St Clair is committed to using 100% hemp because it doesn't need to be sprayed with pesticides and is environmentally sustainable. Hemp causes far less environmental damage than cotton as it is a fast growing plant and when harvested the soil quickly returns to its natural state.
The gorgeous Zanzibar collection is strong and tactile, ideal for upholstery, and its weight ensures that it hangs beautifully when used as curtains and blinds.
Hemp doesn't crease like linen and is a very strong material for upholstery. The rub factor Martindale BS5690 is 14.750. The fabric has been tested by FIRA to BS7176 British Standard.
